Romanian tennis player Anca Todoni qualified for the round of 16 of the WTA 125 tournament in Bari, 100,000 euros total prize money, on Monday, after defeating Russian Tatiana Prozorova, 6-4, 6-2.
Todoni (20 years old, WTA's 88) needed one hour and 27 minutes to get past Prozorova (21 years old, WTA's 160), agerpres reports.
Anca Todoni, seed no. 4, won a cheque of 1,740 euros and 15 WTA points, and in the round of 16 she will face Czech Dominika Salkova (20 years old, WTA's 239).
Also in the main draw is Ana Bogdan (32 years old, WTA's 173), who will meet American Varvara Lepchenko (39 years, 118 WTA's 118) in the first round.
Their only previous match ended with the Romanian's victory, in 2021, in the first round in Budapest, with 6-4, 7-5.
