The Russian Federation's Ambassador in Bucharest, Vladimir Lipaev, was called in by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) on Friday in connection with the recent attacks carried out by Russian forces in Ukraine, MAE reports on Friday.
"By order of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bucharest was summoned on Friday to the Ministry's headquarters to be informed of Romania's firm protest concerning the massive attacks executed by Russian forces against civilian targets in Ukraine on the night of 27-28 August, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties and material damage," the Ministry said in a press release sent to AGERPRES.
According to the cited source, "the Romanian side condemned these attacks, which constitute war crimes and once again demonstrate the Russian Federation's disregard for international law principles and its international obligations."
"The Romanian side also expressed regret that the attacks affected the premises of the EU diplomatic mission in Kyiv, as well as the British Council's Cultural Institute in Kyiv," the ministry added.
At the same time, MAE noted that Romania condemned the repeated attacks by Russian armed forces on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure near the border with Romania, emphasizing the irresponsible nature of these attacks and their serious implications for national security.
