The Government is set to adopt the new Tourism Law, under which this activity will be promoted as a factor of economic development, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila stated on Wednesday.

"Another important project that we've prepared after some extensive consultations with the business milieu, local authorities and the associations in this field is the new Tourism Law, which we are to adopt within today's Government sitting. We are promoting tourism as a factor of economic development, as we committed through the governing programme. We support the investors in this area, who will have a clearer and simpler law, but also the local authorities which receive increased authority for the promotion of tourist destinations," Dancila said in the begining of the Executive meeting.

The PM added that the new legislation stipulates the creation of a tourism-related information system so that there is "a clearer picture of the years in which investment or the improvement of services are needed. This will help us to establish a coherent development strategy for the tourism sector," PM Dancila stated.
