Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Wednesday that in mid-September he will unveil the components of a third package of fiscal and budgetary measures, agerpres reports.
"We have to pass other laws moving forward; some are to correct injustices, others to cut spending, others to come up with development projects so as to create conditions for economic recovery. But, after we pass the second package, after we make a new analysis of our situation, we will announce these things in mid-September," Bolojan told Antena 3 CNN when asked about the third package that the government is considering
He added that at this moment all stimulus measures mean predictability. "Let's not do harm, because aspects related to state aid or forms of support like that must be taken in a well-thought-out manner."
He mentioned to the point the Rabla car scrappage programme.
"For years we pumped quite large amounts into Rabla-type voucher systems. But think that by pumping a lot into these systems for cars that were not manufactured in Romania at all, we, basically, have further aggravated our trade balance deficits and if, indeed, we want to support the replacement of the old car fleet - we have observed all the indicators on this subject - and indirectly to support our Romanian industry, we should recalibrate these vouchers for the types of automobiles that are found in Romanian production."
Bolojan also said that, "no longer having so much money", the funds for this component were reduced, but it was left with "a centre of gravity for what is produced in Romania."
"It is a formula to support the Romanian industry. Otherwise, we are only encouraging imports and contributing even more, as I told you, to these deficits that are creating great problems for us. (...) Any kind of support for companies that are in Romania means support for the economy. Any kind of support for companies that bring new technologies to Romania means support for development in the coming years. Any policies to support the development of energy facilities in Romania are indirect support for all areas. There are some things that you will see moving forward," said Bolojan.
