Oana Toiu: Russian aggression against Ukraine,on agenda of informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers in Copenhagen

Russian aggression against Ukraine will be on the agenda of the informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers, held on Friday and Saturday in Copenhagen, declared Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu.

"The ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine causes daily victims. The bombing of civilian targets by Russia speaks louder than any other declarations made by the Russian side. Instead of pursuing peace, a path unequivocally supported by the international community, by us, by the European community, by the US and by partners with the same principles, Russia chooses bombs instead of dialogue. This profound disregard, on the part of the Kremlin, of the value of human lives, both Ukrainian and Russian, is a key factor in the continuation of this brutal and illegal war," the head of Romanian diplomacy stated on Friday on Facebook.

She adds that the topic will be on the agenda of the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Copenhagen, in the Gymnich format.

At the same time, Toiu emphasized that the Black Sea region has recently experienced a significant increase in the number and intensity of brutal attacks by Russia.

"We must increase financial pressure as a tool to deter such aggressive movements at our border and as a form of pressure necessary to achieve the common goal of the EU and Ukraine: a dialogue for peace, a ceasefire and a lasting peace," she said.

The Romanian minister said that at the Copenhagen meeting he would also mention the joint decision of Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine that sovereign countries should decide their future, a European future.
