The Ministry of Finance (MoF) borrowed 500 million lei from banks on Thursday, through an issue of benchmark state bonds, maturing on April 25, 2035, at an average yield of 7.38% per year, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
The nominal value of Thursday's issue was 500 million RON, and banks subscribed 780.65 million RON, agerpres reports.
An additional auction is scheduled for Friday through which the state wants to attract another 75 million RON at the yield established on Monday for the bonds.
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) planned, in August 2025, loans from commercial banks worth 5.8 billion RON, to which an amount of 810 million RON can be added through additional sessions of non-competitive offers, related to bond auctions.
The total amount, of 6.61 billion RON, is 15 million RON higher than that scheduled in July of this year, of 6.595 billion RON, and will be intended for the refinancing and early repayment of public debt and financing the state budget deficit.
