The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Ciprian Serban, requests the Civil Aeronautics Authority and the Transport Police to intensify inspections of handling companies, after recently receiving several complaints from passengers who, after arriving at their destination, found their luggage damaged or even with goods missing.
"Zero tolerance towards companies that handle luggage at airports! I have recently received several complaints from passengers who told me that, once they arrived at their destination, they found their luggage damaged or even with items missing. I want to be very clear: people pay for safety and respect, not to see their things damaged or missing. That is why I ask the Civil Aeronautical Authority (under the MTI) and the Transport Police to intensify inspections of handling companies," the minister wrote on his Facebook page.
At the same time, the head of Transport instructed handling companies to pay much greater attention to the process of selecting, training and monitoring employees.
"Integrity and professionalism must be the main criteria when giving people access to passengers' belongings. Today, I was once again personally notified of such a situation and I want to congratulate the representatives of the state structures who mobilized quickly and solved the problem in the shortest possible time. Respect for passengers means respect for the work and reputation of each of us. Through responsibility and transparency, we can build trust and thus avoid unpleasant situations that affect us all," Serban also noted.
