Janoska Ensemble, an ensemble with an unmistakable style, where classical virtuosity blends with improvisation and a playful spirit, opens the "Enescu in Control" series on Wednesday at 10 PM, at Control Club, according to the website of the club, Agerpres reports.

The program includes works by Georges Bizet / Franz Waxman - Carmen Fantasy; Paul McCartney, John Lennon - Yesterday; František Janoska - Rumba for Amadeus; Béla Bartók - Romanian Folk Dances - Janoska style; Antonio Vivaldi / František Janoska - The Four Seasons - Janoska style.

Throughout the festival, every Wednesday evening at 10 PM, Control Club hosts the concerts of a new series called "Enescu in Control." These events bring together internationally acclaimed artists and top Romanian ensembles for a different kind of musical experience.

"Enescu in Control" marks a festival premiere: an opening towards a cultural space which has been a landmark of alternative music in Romania.

Also part of "the George Enescu" Festival, on Wednesday, at 5 PM, Belcea Quartet and Leonkoro Quartet will perform at the Romanian Athenaeum.

The musical program features Felix Mendelssohn - Four Pieces for String Quartet Op. 81 (No. 3 and No. 4); Ludwig van Beethoven - String Quartet No. 16 in F major Op. 135; George Enescu - String Octet in C major Op. 7.

The performance of Philarmonia Orchestra includes Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - Italian Capriccio Op. 45; Dmitri Shostakovich - Cello Concerto No. 1 in E flat major Op. 107; Igor Stravinsky - The Firebird Suite (1945 version).

Founded in 1945, the Philharmonia Orchestra is considered one of the world's great ensembles. Since 2021, Finnish conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali has served as principal conductor, joined in 2023 by Marin Alsop as principal guest conductor.

The orchestra is made up of 80 exceptional musicians. It has premiered works by Richard Strauss, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Errollyn Wallen, Laufey and many others, and regularly performs alongside some of the world's most acclaimed soloists.

Based at Southbank Centre in the heart of London, the Philharmonia also holds residencies in Basingstoke, Bedford, Canterbury and Leicester, as well as at the Garsington Opera and the Three Choirs Festival.

The 27th edition of the "George Enescu" International Festival is taking place in Bucharest and across the country until September 21. This year's theme is "Celebrations," marking the 70th anniversary of the death of the great Romanian composer.
