Romania's Defence Minister Ionut Mosteanu on Friday drew attention to the fact that a series of fake news are making the rounds in the public space and social media, saying that "no war is starting" and "no one will be conscripted' in the Army, agerpres reports.
"In the public space, you see a lot of fake news, a lot of lies that are spread in the public space, in social media by those who want to destabilise Romania, by those who want a weak Romania, a weak Romanian Army and I want to clarify one thing: no war starts, we don't conscript anyone for the army," Mosteanu wrote in a social media post.
He added that what appears in the footage currently circulated is an ordinary, normal training exercise of the army, which happened in the past years and is happening now.
"It is an absolutely normal, natural exercise that the Defence General Staff does. I am asking you to please don't let those who want a weak Romania destabilise us; get information from reliable sources and you have the website of the Ministry of National Defence, an extremely reliable source, and the Inforadar platform of the Ministry of National Defence, where you have all the correct news about everything that happens with the Romanian Army," said Mosteanu.
According to him, the Romanian Army is constantly training, because it must be well prepared. "That is what our Army does and does this every day, watching over Romania's security and the safety of every Romanian," the minister said.
