Bucharest and 7 counties under Code Orange, 12 counties under Code Yellow for heatwave on Monday

The National Administration of Meteorology (ANM) issued, on Monday morning, a Code Orange advisory for heat wave, valid in the counties of Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Calarasi and Ilfov, as well as in Bucharest.

Thus, the heat wave will persist in these counties, and maximum temperatures, although slightly lower than those recorded in previous days, will still be particularly high. The discomfort will remain high, the temperature-humidity index (TIU) will slightly exceed the critical threshold of 80 units and the weather will be hot.

The maximum temperatures will range between 35 and 37 Celsius degrees and the minimum will not drop below 20 degrees (tropical night).

At the same time, meteorologists have issued a Code Yellow heat wave advisory, valid Monday in 12 counties. According to ANM, the heat wave will persist in Banat, north-western and northern Oltenia, northern Muntenia, as well as in the continental area of Dobrogea, the discomfort will remain high, the temperature index - humidity (ITU) will reach the critical threshold of 80 units, and in isolated areas it will be scorching hot. Maximum temperatures, still much higher than normal for the period, will generally range between 33 and 35 Celsius degrees.

The ANM also issued two Code Yellow warnings on Monday, one for atmospheric instability and another for heat wave.

According to the cited source, between June 24, 12:00 - June 24, 23:00, in most of Transylvania and locally in the mountains there will be periods of atmospheric instability. This will be manifested by torrential downpours, short-term intensification of winds (gusts of 50...70 km/h), electrical discharge and in small areas thunderstorms and hail. In short intervals of time or by accumulation water amounts will range between 20 - 30 l/mp and in restricted areas over 40 l/mp.

According to meteorologists, on Tuesday, June 25, the heat wave will persist in the southern half of Oltenia and Muntenia, the discomfort will remain high, the temperature - humidity index (ITU) will reach the critical threshold of 80 units and at times it will be scorching. Maximum temperatures, higher than normal at this date, will generally range between 34 - 35 Celsius degrees.
