Balance of non-government credit up 0.5% in July 2025

The balance of non-government credit granted by credit institutions increased in July 2025 by 0.5% compared to the previous month (-2.1% in real terms), reaching a level of 439.095 billion lei, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) announced on Tuesday, agerpres reports.
Credit in lei, accounting for 69.4% of total non-government credit, remained at the same level as in June 2025, while credit in foreign currency, expressed in lei and representing 30.6% of total non-government credit, increased by 1.7% (a similar evolution was recorded when the indicator was expressed in euros).
Compared to the same period in 2024, non-government credit registered an 8.7% increase (0.8% in real terms), driven by a rise of 8.6% in the lei component (0.7% in real terms) and 8.9% in the foreign currency component expressed in lei (6.7% when expressed in euros), according to the BNR press release sent to AGERPRES.
The balance of government credit granted by credit institutions remained at comparable levels in July 2025 to those of June 2025 (+0.02%), reaching 254.194 billion lei. Compared to July 2024, it increased by 16.9% (8.4% in real terms).
The broad money supply (M3) recorded a balance of 752.060 billion lei at the end of July 2025. It increased by 0.9% (-1.8% in real terms) compared to June 2025, and by 9.3% (1.3% in real terms) compared to July 2024.
